The Raptors have signed free agent forward Juan Hernangomez to a one-year deal. The 26-year-old Hernangomez is from Spain. He was the No. 15 rookie in the first round in 2016. He has played for the Nuggets, Timberwolves, Celtics, Spurs and Jazz in his career.
The day before the opening of free agency this year, the Jazz cut him to restore his free agency.
Although Hernangomez’s NBA resume is unremarkable, he has attracted much attention in the past. One of the main reasons is that he and Hollywood comedian Adam Sandler co-starred in the sports inspirational film.
It is somewhat ironic that Hernangomez was laid off shortly after the film was launched, and many people on social media at that time also made fun of the “Bo Cruz” meme. Fortunately, Hernangomez’s height and shooting skills allowed him to quickly find his next home.
